Why Belly Fat Is the Hardest to Lose — and What Actually Works

When it comes to weight loss, belly fat is an entirely different game. It’s not just “extra weight” — it’s a unique type of fat with more cortisol receptors than anywhere else in the body, which is why it’s often the last to go. If you’ve been eating healthy, exercising, and doing “all the right things” yet still can’t lose belly fat, there’s a reason: stress has a massive influence here, and until you address the three major stressors that drive fat storage, nothing changes.

1. Insulin Resistance

One of the biggest contributors to belly fat is insulin resistance. Most have never been taught how to eat in a way that stabilizes blood sugar, yet this is foundational for fat loss. Strategic carb cycling is essential because your body is far more likely to store carbs as fat at certain times of the day. And the order in which you eat your food matters more than you think — research shows that simply changing the sequence can reduce blood sugar spikes by up to 40%. This is one of the easiest, most effective tools for lowering insulin and turning on fat-burning mode.

2. Chronic Cortisol Elevation

Belly fat is cortisol-driven fat, which means lowering cortisol is non-negotiable. You cannot burn fat when your nervous system is in fight-or-flight — and most live there without realizing it. One of the most powerful ways to instantly lower cortisol is a specific form of breathwork using mini breath holds. I practice this daily because it reliably pulls the body out of survival mode and back into homeostasis. When cortisol comes down, belly fat finally becomes available for fuel.

3. Liver Burden

Your liver is the command center of your metabolism. It literally determines how efficiently you burn fat. When the liver is overloaded — and it is for almost everyone, no matter how “clean” you eat — it slows down. A sluggish liver stores toxins, and toxins are stored inside fat tissue. This is how the body brilliantly protects us from toxins. So, if you want to release fat, you must also release toxins. Supporting both Phase 1 and Phase 2 liver detoxification is essential for sustainable, healthy fat loss.

The Results Speak for Themselves

I’ve implemented this 3-step strategy with myself and thousands of women over the years. The average weight loss in just 30 days? 7–16 pounds — without calorie restriction, extreme dieting, or punishing workouts. The best part is that the weight stays off because we’re not just shrinking your body — we’re improving your metabolic health, balancing your nervous system, and reducing the stressors that caused the weight gain in the first place.

Ready to Lose Belly Fat and Transform Your Health?

I’m leading my annual 30-Day Reset beginning January 5th, and we’ll be addressing all of this — insulin resistance, cortisol, liver support — plus mindset and nervous system regulation. This is the most effective fat-loss and metabolic-reset protocol I’ve ever created, and it consistently delivers life-changing results.

If you’re ready to shed belly fat and feel better than you have in years, this is where to begin.
