The body reflects what the mind suppresses. Many of us have dismissed this as a woo-woo theory, but it’s actually backed by science. When we push down our emotions, whether consciously or unconsciously, without processing them, it triggers our fight or flight response, leading to a constant state of physiological threat. This can manifest as chronic pain and various symptoms.
Unfortunately, emotional suppression is incredibly common, and many do it without even realizing. This can take various forms, such as distraction, scrolling, shopping, numbing through substances, overeating, or intense physical activity. These behaviors serve as ways to divert our attention elsewhere, allowing us to avoid facing what’s truly happening inside.
In the past decade, I’ve witnessed countless cases where chronic pain or health issues disappeared after individuals learned to process their emotions.
Here’s a list of the symptoms I’ve seen disappear as people began processing their emotions (AKA healing their nervous system): back pain, neck pain, headaches, migraines, vertigo, acne, rosacea, gut problems, food sensitivities, chronic mold and Lyme disease, long Covid, insomnia, anxiety, depression, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, food sensitivities, seasonal allergies, SIBO, candida, hormonal imbalances, autoimmune conditions, MCAS,and more.
Processing emotions shifts the body out of fight or flight mode, allowing the nervous system and other bodily systems to come into balance and heal. And it often happens quite quickly!
In my own experience, once I started addressing my emotions, I resolved a long list of chronic health issues within a few short weeks, despite TRYING EVERYTHING previously. Learning to process my emotions has been the single most effective and powerful thing I’ve ever done to improve my health.
