When it comes to improving your health, more is not always better

A desire to improve your health must be coupled with balance. Sadly, most people lack that balance.

Far too many health-minded folks obsess over perfection. They focus on the next best thing, the magic solution to add to their overloaded routine. When it comes to health, more is not better. More is more. “More” often adds to stress load.

We live in a very exciting time – a time full of easily-accessible, cutting-edge health information. The trap of MORE is alluring and easy.

I see this search for more making people sick! I am not immune; I have struggled on my own health journey.

I feel like a broken record, but here’s the truth: the most effective way to improve your health is to improve the health of your nervous system. Constantly striving, trying to learn, and adding more to a health routine is far too common among my clients who suffer from unhealthy and dysregulated nervous systems.

Typically, these people are “go-getters” stuck in fight-or-flight mode, using their elaborate health routine to escape feelings of inadequacy and anxiety. Their entire health routine is fueled by fear!

I’m not telling you to ignore your physical body. I am telling you that when it comes to healing the nervous system, less is more!

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve sat with a client whose health routine caused 95 percent of their stress load and health issues. They were actively causing what they were trying to overcome!

Stop spinning your wheels, obsessing, and spending energy you don’t have. Slow down and allow what you’ve learned to sink in. Stop adding more. Slow down and do less.

If your health routine feels rigid, strict, and overwhelming, it’s likely making you sick.
