Our world is full of people who are struggling with health issues! And most of them continue to look for solutions outside of themselves. They follow the latest and greatest health and nutrition trends, tweaking and perfecting their diets, manage symptoms with supplements and other healing protocols, and continuing to focus on and tweak everything in their external environment— all of which is a huge part of why they aren’t healing.
What most of the world doesn’t understand is that true healing is mostly an inside job. And yes, our environment (the food we eat, the water we drink, the air we breathe, etc.) contributes to our health problems, but not as much as our internal environment. AND you improve your internal environment, it’s so much easier to take care of your body because now the motivation to do so is coming from someone who is whole, instead of someone ridden with fear and weighed down my unresolved trauma.
So, what is our internal environment made up of?
Our thoughts. Our thoughts create our feelings and emotions, and our emotions drive our behaviors and lead us to the outcomes in our life.
Thoughts play a pivotal role in shaping our internal environment as they form the entire lens through which we see ourselves and the world around us. They also have the power to influence our perceptions, attitudes, and responses to external factors. Understanding and nurturing our thoughts is fundamental to creating a positive and supportive internal environment, and improving our overall well-being. It’s the synergy between our internal and external environments that paves the way for true healing and lasting health.
Here are a few steps to nurture a healthy internal thought environment:
- Awareness: Begin by becoming aware of your thoughts. Pay attention to the patterns and themes that dominate your mind. Recognize when negative or limiting thoughts arise.
- Challenge Negative Thoughts: When negative thoughts emerge, challenge them. Ask yourself if they are based on facts or assumptions. Consider alternative, more positive perspectives. This has nothing to do with pushing down emotions, and everything to do with reframing negativity- there’s a huge difference.
- Practice Gratitude: Cultivate a habit of gratitude. Regularly acknowledge and appreciate the positive aspects of your life. This helps shift your focus from what’s lacking to what you have.
